Doing yoga at the Casa GiallaThe Yoga style taught by Cornelia could be described on the one hand as meditative and on the other hand as dynamic and flowing. Various elements come into a harmonious and esthetic synthesis. Her ideal of yoga practice can be summarized as „the beauty of conscious movement“, where not only the physical body is trained, but in the first place our creativity and a clear and attentive mind. It is the latter that will help us move our body in a focused and well-directed manner in search of the esthetic ideal of every yoga position.
With this training process we may experience a greater freedom, yoga will indeed become the experience of being the master of one’s own body and its impulses, and therefore of our entire life. For Cornelia, the essence of yoga practice can be found in the training of this very intimate and individual power, the so-called „I“ or ahamkara (in sanscrit, the ancient language in which the philosophical literature of yoga is written), which is hidden in every human in a dormant state and which calls for awakening by concrete training.
This form of practice offers regeneration, joy, health and a sensation of physical harmony as well as a greater balance for everyday life. Yoga is a continuous path. In contrast to sport, the results and progress of yoga practice spring from the process itself and it is always combined with a psychological and mental growth.
Cornelia has been trained in traditional Hatha Yoga, as taught at the Sivananda School, which encompasses all classical yoga postures (asana) as well as meditation, relaxation and breathing exercises. However, the conscious breath control within the asana has given way to the „free respiration practice“, a method developed and taught by the German yoga master Heinz Grill. In her experience, this lighter and nonetheless powerful handling of respiration helps us to develop a sensibility for its various qualities and their value for our psychological, social and physical health.
